Blue Hornets win strong accolades at the Brentwood Indoor tournament

We have had our most successful year to date at the Brentwood Indoor Tournament this last weekend.

With teams coming from across the south of England, the tournament is seen as the premier tournament for youth indoor hockey, and teams compete against clubs (Canterbury, Havant, Ipswich etc) from the "premiership" of hockey.

Congratulations go out to the U12 boys and the U10 boys who were champions in their age group. The U10 boys won all their games and were comfortably the best team in the group. The U12 boys had an early setback by losing to Canterbury but, due to strong results against other teams, did not give up and went onto win on goal difference.

The U12 girls and U18 girls narrowly missed out of gold, coming second to extremely strong teams from Canterbury and Old Loughtonians respectively. The U12 girls drew 0-0 with the champions (Canterbury) and only lost out on goal difference. The U18 girls lost 5-3 in a fantastic match to OLs (who are now going on to perform in the Nationals Indoor Finals), but had impressive wins against Chelmsford and Havering.

The U14 boys also performed very well, coming 3rd AND beating Ipswich who were the eventual champions…..and excellent performance given the age of the group!! The U16 boys also came 3rd……..and very respectful position given that the teams above them (Canterbury and OLs) both made the National Finals. With all the boys only 14 years old, they fought hard and staged a notable 7-0 destruction of Brentwood!!

The U14 girls battled very hard and sadly lost many of their matches by just the one goal. They eventually came 6th in their group but came away with respect (and an excellent victory over Havering)!!.  The U10 girls had a very young team and, again, lost 4 of their games by 1 goal, eventually  coming 5th with a great victory against Chelmsford. The U16 girls came 5th. They had only a few training sessions together and were unfortunate not to get a better position, drawing with Chelmsford and Havering both of whom ended above them in the table.

WELL DONE EVERYBODY!!! Detailed team reports will be out very soon on the Blue Hornets website.
