Phoenix hockey club is set to take a lead on offering hockey and facilities to those people with a disability. As part of its on-going programme of getting people into the sport, and as part of club first accreditation, Phoenix will host its first Disability Section Event on Friday 7th February.
The new format, supported by England Hockey, is known as Flyerz with the first free session taking place tomorrow evening, people need to be there at 6:30pm for a 7:00pm start finishing at 8:00pm.
The age groups start from 6+, and The club will adapt games to players of mixed abilities, including those in wheelchairs, using a range of equipment such as plastic sticks, targeted to specific weaknesses.
All equipment is provided but participants should wear comfortable sports clothes and bring some drinking water. More details available here.
