PHOENIX FLYERZ WIN 6'S TROPHY

The Phoenix Flyerz came back victorious from Redbridge where  the "Flyerz Festival of disability hockey was held".

Phoenix entered the higher ability of 2 simultaneous tournament, playing 6 a side in a pool of 5 of ten participating teams.

This was the third tournament of this kind the first 2 were won by a Dutch Team, The Flying Dutchman 1, who we beat in the final 3-0.

We took 6 players including 1 GK - Theresa Fitten; she kept a clean sheet in 6 matches. The outfield players were Lori Corran, Daniel Knee, both new recruits from Harlow, Charles Mitchell, Teddy Mitchell, and Lulu Mitchell.

Each team was allowed 1 able bodied player and 1 GB player. We had the pleasure of Maddie Hinch who although being GB's GK played outfield for us. Gilbert Maubon also joined in to relieve tired legs, all within the tournament's rules.

Many congratulations to all Phoenix Flyerz Players on the day.

Our thanks also to Pani from Waltham Forest Flyerz who has worked tirelessly to organise the tournament, and get support from several wealthy sponsors to provide hockey for over 100 people with disabilities.
