As part of England Hockey’s national Back to Hockey campaign, Phoenix Hockey Club will be one club looking to take people of all ages and ability forward during summer 2015.
Back to Hockey sessions are coached sessions out of season for people who not have played the game for a long period of time, or who are looking to try a new and exciting sport for the first time. Coached sessions running for an hour provide people with a great opportunity to exercise and learn new skills.
Having run successful courses in the past for ladies player, this time the club will run courses for both Men and Women. One major difference this year will also be the fact that the club will run one course during the day and one during the evening. Sessions run from Tuesday 14th April 10:00am to 11:00am or 19:30 to 20:30 at the Four Releet Ground www.phoenixhc.co.uk
Chairman Chris Card believes that with the Community Club Award behind it, the club is the right place for local people to get into a team environment, perhaps for the first time.
With the Summer international season soon underway and GB Men playing Germany in the Nations Cup next week, these sessions hope to harness a general rise in the profile of the sport. For Essex based players the new home of GB hockey is, of course, now just a short distance away at the former Olympic park in Stratford.
